Itinerary
Day 1
TEL AVIV
Arrival at the airport, assistance and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. NOTE: We advise taking an additional night at the beginning to be able to go on an optional tour of Massada and the Dead Sea.
Day 2
TEL AVIV 33ºC - CESAREA - HAIFA 33ºC - ST. JOHN D'ACRE - TIBERIADES
Breakfast. PICK UP AT THE HOTEL BETWEEN 07:45 HOURS (AM) AND 08:00 HOURS (AM). Departure from the city of Tel Aviv, travelling round the Mediterranean Sea to Yaffo, an ancient port of Israel, now an artists’ neighbourhood. Visit to the Church of Saint Peter. Continuing along the coast to CAESAREA Maritima, an old Roman capital, where we will visit its Theatre, the Crusaders’ Fortress Walls and the Roman Aqueduct. We shall continue our journey to the city of HAIFA, we shall climb Mount Carmel, where the Grotto of the Prophet Elijah and we shall view the Bahai Temple and its Persian Gardens, and we shall have a panoramic view of the city and port. Onward to SAINT JEAN D’ACRE, capital city of the Crusaders, visiting the medieval fortresses. Arrival in NAZARETH/ TIBERIADES. Dinner included. Accommodation.
Day 3
TIBERIADES
THE CORRECT ORDER IS NAZARETH – MOUNT PRECIPICE – MOUNT TABOR – CANAAN OF GALILEE– NAZARETHBreakfast. We will start the day with the visit to Nazareth where we will visit the Church of the Annunciation, Saint Joseph’s Carpentry Workshop and the Fountain of the Virgin. Continue toward Mount Precipice, from where we may enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Nazareth and the surrounding area, then on to MOUNT TABOR where the transfiguration of Jesus before Moses and Elijah took place. Return to Nazareth. We end the visit at Canaan of Galilee,where Jesus performed his first miracle. Dinner included. Accommodation.
Day 4
TIBERIADES - MOUNT TABOR - JERUSALEM33ºC
THE CORRECT ORDER IS NAZARETH – MOUNT OF BEATITUDES – TABGHA – CAPERNAUM – JORDAN RIVER – JERUSALEMBreakfast. We will start the day with a boat trip on the Sea of Galilee. Later, we will visit the Mount of the Beatitudes, where the Sermon of the Mount was given, TABGHA, the place where the bread and fish were multiplied, and CAPERNAUM, where the house of Saint Peter is, and the ruins of the old synagogue. In the afternoon, trip to Jerusalem along the River Jordan valley,round the oasis of Jericho, where we will enjoy a panoramic view of the Mount of Temptation and the Dead Sea. Climb up through the Judean desert and entry to Jerusalem, the peace messenger city, birthplace of the three great monotheistic religions. Accommodation.
Day 5
JERUSALEM 33ºC
Breakfast. PICK UP AT THE HOTEL RECEIPTION BETWEEN 07:45 HOURS (AM) AND 08:00 HOURS (AM). Excursion to visit the New City of Jerusalem, seeing the Shrine of the Book in the Museum of Israel, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed, and the model that represents the city of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus. We will go through the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, then going toward Ein Karen, a picturesque neighbourhood on the outskirts of the city to visit the Shrine of Saint John the Baptist. We will also see Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum and Memorial. In the afternoon, we will travel to BETHLEHEM, located behind the wall built in recent years to separate the two communities. We will take a Palestinian guide to visit the Church of the Nativity, the Grotto of the Manger and the Shepherds’ Field. Return to Jerusalem and accommodation.
Day 6
JERUSALEM 33ºC
We include a visit to the old city of Jerusalem. Excursion by Mount Scopus toward the Mount of Olives. There is an extraordinary view of the walled Holy City from the top. We then continue to Gethsemane, the Basilica of the Agony. Departure toward the Old City. Visit to the Western Wall (Wailing Wall). We will continue along the Via Dolorosa to arrive at Calvary, the place where Christ was crucified, and to see the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. We then go onward to Mount Zion to visit the Tomb of King David, the Cenacle (Hall of the Last Supper) and the Abbey of the Dormiton. Accommodation in Jerusalem.
Day 7
JERUSALEM 33ºC - PUENTE SHEIK HUSSEIN - MADABA 33ºC - MOUNT NEBO - AMMAN33ºC
THE CORRECT ORDER IS JERUSALEM – SHEIK HUSSEIN BRIDGE – JERASH - AMMÁNBreakfast. Departure toward the Israeli border with Jordan. Arrival at Sheikh Hussein Bridge where we will complete the border and visa formalities. Welcome to Jordan! Set off for JERASH, one of the most complete and best conserved cities from the Roman empire, known as the Pompeii of the East, which displays a great example of Roman city planning. A trip back in time through its streets, theatres, temples and squares, among which there is the large colonnade, the arch of triumph, the oval square and the temples of Zeus and Artemis. Onward to AMMAN, panoramic visit to the city. Dinner included. Accommodation. NOTE: In spite of there being a distance of no more than 200 metres, the border at Sheikh Hussein must be crossed in a specific bus provided for the purpose that is under the jurisdiction of the Jordanian Authorities. That bus has a cost of approximately $ 3 per person and must be paid directly by the passengers themselves when they get on the bus.
Day 8
AMMAN 33ºC - PETRA 32ºC
Breakfast. Departure toward the city of PETRA. Arrival and classic visit to the Nabatean city of Petra, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, excavated in pink rock more than 2000 years ago. We will go up to the entrance to the gorge (Siq). From there we will continue until reaching the impressive monumental complex of the Treasury (El Khazneh), we will visit the Theatre, the Colonnaded Street, the Sacrificial Altar and the Royal Tombs. Free time you may spend going up to the Monastery (on your own, without a guide). Dinner included. Accommodation.
Day 9
PETRA 32ºC - AQABA 37ºC - AMMAN 33ºC
THE CORRECT ORDER IS PETRA – WADI RUM – MOUNT NEBO – MADABA – AMMAN. THIS TOUR DOESN´T VISIT AQABA.Breakfast. Departure for the desert of WADI RUM, one of the scenarios of the film Lawrence of Arabia, and one of the most spectacular environments in the Middle East. It is a red sand desert above which granite mountains with gold and reddish peaks rise. Set off for MOUNT NEBO, known as the tomb of Moses, from the peak of which there is a marvellous view of the Jordan valley. Continue toward MADABA, “city of the mosaics” to visit the Church of Saint George that houses the map of the Holy Land prepared in the year 571 A.D. Departure by road toward Amman. Dinner included.
